Croatian short cartoon about little flying bears

This cartoon, Little flying bears, isn't 100% Croatian cartoon. It is Canadian/Croatian co-production. This cartoon helps children realize the importance of protecting the environment. The series shows the harmful effects of pollution and fires as well as the important role of the ecosystem.

Polish pupils are working on multilingual dictionaries. What do you think about creating them this way?

Very important! It's not our final work! It's just a first try. We wanted to prepare this image very quickly, so it doesn't look like perfect ;)

Our project

Title: Animals around us

Short description:

This project is addressed to the various dimensions of animal world, with a strong established link between science, art, technology and environment.
The main goal of this project is to explore animals life: from pets to farm animals, through the very famous animals presented in our literature and movies, to endangered animals. We also want to highlight the invasive species in our ecosystems.
Considering that animals are among the most studied subjects in our schools, we propose to develop new materials and share them with our partners and also to enrich the learning process of our students.

Language: English

Age: 10-12

Work process:
October:
- getting to know each other (online presentations of pupils and their pets),
- filling in a survey about animals,
- our first chat.

November and December:
- choosing an animal representing each country and preparing a logo,
- creating multilingual dictionaries (pets, farm animals, wild animals, animals and their kids, parts of animals’ bodies, food for animals and so on) with our own pictures and voice recordings,
- students’ handicrafts (bookmarks, origami animals, zoo models - start of work which will proceed during the whole project).

February and January:
- famous animal characters from books and movies (as well national as international),
- preparing quizzes and games about animals and sharing them with the partners.

March:
- learning phrases and sayings about animals (comparing phrases, idioms, proverbs and sayings from different countries),
- learning poems about animals and illustrating them,

April:
- preparing our own books and comic books about animals (inspired by animal characters from books and movies or our own pets e.g. pets’ diaries with photos),
- drawing (or designing) non-existing animals and presenting them to our partners.

May:
- visiting animal shelters and/or zoos,
- gathering information about abandoned animals,
- learning about endangered animals and invasive species (preparing a little flyer or a small poster about them, with one image, one damage caused in our ecosystem and one idea how to solve the problem) in different countries.

June:
- evaluation,
- summary,
- presentation of the project in our schools.

Aims:
- to improve language skills,
- to develop ICT skills,
- to broaden pupils’ knowlegde about animals in different countries,
- to  explore the link between science, technology, society, art and environment,
- to encourage pupils to be creative,
- to promote collaborative work involving differents agents of learning processs: students, teachers, and parents.

Expected results:
- to share the results of our work at our own school communities,
- to publish the results of our work (using various ICT tools) online (TwinSpace, external blog),
- to gather and exchange with our partners handmade works made by pupils,

- to use the Internet resources consciously.
